Marketa Hejkalová (Prague, 1960) is a writer, translator, publisher, vice chairman of the Czech PEN Center, an active member of PEN International and founder of the Autumn Book Fair, which is the second largest book fair in the Czech Republic. She studied Finnish and Russian at Charles University in Prague. She worked as a consultant and cultural attaché at the Czech Embassy in Helsinki.
Since 2009, she worked at the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Marketa Hejkalová has written novels, short stories and nonfictional books, which have been translated into several languages.
Some of her works are: “Always a night”, “The magician of Beijing”, “Evidence of her life” (for our readers: A Kosovar in my life), etc.
