Linda Hutcheon (1947) is best known theorists of the postmodern literature and professor in the Department of English and Comparative Literature Centre at the University of Toronto. In 2000 she was elected president of the Modern Language Association, becoming the first Canadian woman to hold the post.
Besides the book “Poetics of postmodernism” (1988), which is her most recognized book, also are distinguished the studies: The theory of parody (1984), Politics of postmodernism (1989), Canadian Postmodernism (1992), The Age of irony (1994), Theory of adaptation (2004) and several books about opera.
